Fit Is Everything

October 22, 2009

Never ever underestimate the value of a good tailor. Almost every client I have ever worked with has needed alterations done to their clothes. This could be because most women wear clothes that are too big for them. The logic is that if it is big and loose you can hide whatever part of your body you don’t love. This is wrong. Backwards logic, it makes you look bigger, always.

Sometimes shortening a hemline 2″ will make all the difference in the world, other times it’s about taking a blouse in at the waist. It’s no exaggeration to say that I alter at least 50% of my clothes. Which brings me to, A&R alterations.

It may not look like much, but I tell you, Rose Yalung is magic. Her shop is just east of Main on 11th.

She took an Armani suit from a size 10 down to a 4 perfectly. I take all of my clients clothes to her and she always done a fabulous job.

Before you decide to give something away, call me, a few alterations may make it new again.

The Rescue Dog

October 2, 2009

The irony in this post is that I was planning on blogging about rain boots, and other rain appropriate foot wear. I thought I would write about how I love Army & Navy rain boots because they are the ultimate old school rain wear.

My sweet husband and I came home from dinner, we were out for a few short hours, and once we got home I went looking for my rain boots so that I could use them as an example of my top choice for rain boots.

I found them.

We recently rescued another dog, what can I say, I am a sucker. She was abandoned and looked at us with a pathetically sad face and that was it. Actually, that’s not true, there is more to it, but this is about clothes, and style, not dogs.

Let’s just take another look at the boot.

Now, we have had dogs for a while, I know this happens, and believe me when I say that I have sacrificed thousands of dollars worth of shoes to our dogs. Thousands. The shocking part about this is not that I am apt to spending thousands of dollars on shoes, but that I have let it happen more than once. I am completely at fault, I have left the closet door open, or left a pair under the bed, whatever the reason it should only happen once.

Except in my case.

I left the closet door open, again.

I picked these up in Paris this summer, they were so cute.

The full extent of the damage with the culprit.

Doesn’t she look guilty? I am going to have to pick up another pair of rain boots, good thing they are less than $20 at Army & Navy. You should too.
